Pistons-Hawks game postponed

Tonight’s Pistons-Hawks game has been postponed due to the winter storm in Atlanta. The Pistons couldn’t fly into Atlanta, and there are dangerous road conditions in the area.

There’s no word on when the game will be made up, but both teams are off tomorrow. However, that would mean the Hawks play three straight days. When the NBA rescheduled the Spurs-Timberwolves game, the league didn’t make either team play a back-to-back-to-back. That leaves three possible makeup dates:

  • Feb. 28
  • April 7
  • April 8

Phillips Arena looks clear all three days, so each seems viable.

Well, a game without a loss is always a good game…unless you wanted to attend to it….

2 or 3 inches of snow and the whole state is shut down. I realize they don’t have plow trucks, but 2 or 3 inches of snow. Ha whatever. I know a guy that lives down there and his girlfriend left work yesterday and still wasn’t home today. WTF Atlanta.

I would’ve liked to watch tonight rather wait until Saturday for the next Pistons game. However I think this is good for the team. Atlanta has been playing really good lately, and this probably would’ve been a loss. Better for the teams psyche to get to enjoy last nights win for more than 24 hours before getting that losing feeling back again.

This way they get to carry some confidence around the rest of the week and I think that’s exactly wha this team needs right now. Then they get to play Philly on Saturday which is a winnable game, and can maybe pick up another win before a likely loss on Monday vs Miami.

I think this will be a blessing in disguise

As you can tell from the handle, I live in Atlanta. I hate when people say 1-3 inches of snow. Snow is not the issue. It’s the ice that has covered most of the roads. Cars were sliding badly. It’s not worth it to go out unless absolute emergency. Kids are stuck at school. If anything they should have cancelled yesterday but most did not until too late.

Also the funny thing is ATL is a melting pot from migrants. Most people I know here are from up North. So think about that before clowning a region

The reason we laugh about it is that we get pounded with over a foot of snow, sub zero temperatures along with the ice and 20-30 mile an hour winds and still go to work every day.

Yeah, because in MI they have the infrastructure to make driving safe. They get salt onto those highways and plow the roads relatively promptly.

In some places, that infrastructure is not worth having because it costs too much. If you only lose a couple days of productivity per year, that’s manageable. In MI, you would lose several weeks per year, so they have those systems in place.

I’d imagine the hip hop enthusiasts in ATL to have closer ties to the ATLiens than Lil Jon!

Mike but are you also better equipped and experienced to handle those extreme conditions. Snow tires don’t exist down here. If so they would never sale.

I drove through Georgia coming back from Florida one year (its what people do from the Nickleback state), and it was snowing or should I say a few flurries.  It looked like something out of a scene from Jackass.  Cars going too fast, too slow, or the first time ever seeing snow playing literal bumper cars.  It is not completely due to infrastructure and ice.  You can say that GeorGia is composed of a lot of migrant workers, but man I have seen how you drive when it is a few flurries.  Meanwhile I floated through the state watching car crash after car crash.  Infrastructure is a polite way of saying OMG snow OMG snow stay inside with your purple drink and stay warm!  Ya yeah !!

C_S_V….both Lil Jon and Outkast are from the ATL, but it is a known fact that Lil Jon has done more for economy in Atlanta than Outkast.  But who could forget, “Me and you, your mama and your cousin too, Rollin down the strip on Vogues, comin up slamming Cadillac doors.”

What a shame the game was postponed. The one night of the year we have an acceptable excuse for being ice cold from every spot on the court
