The Pistons teased a new uniform yesterday, and today you can see it:

CHANGE THE FONT!
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:52 pmby RL
I totally agree
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:11 pmby hoophabit
I like them. I liked the alternate reds they had a few years ago, but not the teal. Of course, Jerseys don’t matter much.
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:19 pmby Otis
I love that it says Motor City. Couldn’t be happier about that. I do think the font is especially inappropriate here. I’m kind of tired of that font in general. Something about the last five years.
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:29 pmby ffz
Do any of you guys remember those home jerseys we wore in the 2007-08 season (50th) that looked like old fashion those were sweet
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:31 pmby Hardy
How can it say “Motir City” when the team is in Auburn Hills…………………………………..
Aug 14, 2013 • 2:54 pmby Ray313
Thats like saying why is the team called Detroit Pistons, and in Auburn Hills… lol,
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:36 pmby Cliff
oh god, just the font itself makes it look like some cheap knock off from China or Bangladesh or smth
Aug 14, 2013 • 1:48 pmby CityofKlompton
I agree with everyone else. That font needs to be ditched yesterday. I’ve never liked it, and it really ruins the look of everything it appears on.
Aug 14, 2013 • 2:26 pmby Geof
Let me see the shorts. I have home, away and alternate red shorts and will definitely want this one as well.
Aug 14, 2013 • 3:10 pmby Jack56
I really want a new font and logo…
The Pistons were voted as having one of the worst logos in the state: http://www.freep.com/interactive/article/20130814/SPORTS18/130814003/detroit-free-press-sports-logo-bracket
The Pistons are in MAJOR need of a new logo…I like this suggestion: http://www.michael-weinstein.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/pistons.jpg
Piston Powered, please do a post just on the desire of new logo/fonts and then send it to Joe and Tom…
Aug 14, 2013 • 3:31 pmby Wolverines23
Ew. I like the colors, but yeah the font blows. They should totally go back to the jerseys they wore in the late 80′s..with the same font. Even Greg doesn’t look too happy about it lol.
I’m just excited that they tried..it’s been long overdue.
Aug 14, 2013 • 3:41 pmby ffz
I don’t see why people complain about pistons in auburn hils if they were in Detroit it would take forever to find a parking spot
Aug 14, 2013 • 5:23 pmby RyanK
Because they are the Detroit Pistons. Either move the team downtown or change the name. An arena does not belong in the in the middle of a corn field 45 minutes from the city they are supposed to play in. This should have never been allowed to happen.
Aug 14, 2013 • 7:11 pmby tarsier
Then think of them in your head as the Auburn Hills Pistons while the rest of the world recognizes that they represent Detroit. Problem solved.
Aug 14, 2013 • 9:00 pmby RyanK
Detroit is the number one example in the entire country of what’s wrong with suburbia. Bankrupt city that sprawled outward stretching its infrastructure and the tax base to its breaking point. Now look at the disaster that is Detroit. Keep dragging things further and further away…escape the decay instead of rebuilding it…escape the minorities instead of melting together. The Palace of Auburn Hills represents everything that’s wrong with Detroit.
Aug 14, 2013 • 9:17 pmby CityofKlompton
Having an arena outside the actual city limits isn’t a unique practice. Also, if you’re looking at it from a TV/broadcasting standpoint, they are still in the Detroit region. It’s not like they set up shop in Traverse City and decided to call themselves the Detroit Pistons. Let’s not be too picky here.
Aug 15, 2013 • 12:57 pmby Crispus
How would you feel if the Klompton Kalabash decided to build their arena in Buntington Heach?
Aug 15, 2013 • 12:45 pmby jamesjones_det
Oh please at this point the city of Detroit wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for the suburbs. The suburbs are more Detroit than Detroit is Detroit these days…
Don’t let thugs attempt to car jack the owner twice in one month and maybe he doesn’t move the arena “45 minutes” away…
Aug 19, 2013 • 2:45 pmby MIKEYDE248
If you think that the Palace is in the middle of a corn field, you must not have ever been there. In a couple years the population of Auburn Hills will probably be greater than that of Detroit, with what is going on downthere. The population of Detroit drops more and more each year, because nobody wants to live there anymore.
Why would you want to move the Pistons back into the arm pit of the USA?
You say that the Palace is the number one example of what is wrong with the country. I look at it as exactly the opposite. Detroit is the number one example of what’s wrong with the country. The whole city is corrupt, stealing money from anyone they can. Why should the Pistons move back down there and support that?
Aug 14, 2013 • 5:29 pmby RyanK
An arena does not belong in the middle of a corn field 45 minutes from the city they are supposed to play in.
I hate that I can’t edit a post on this site.
Aug 14, 2013 • 6:23 pmby Kobina
Oh, now I get it. This is an ironically named site for people who actually hate the Pistons to bash the team. Very clever.
Okay, I’m headed over DBB and Mlive, where the fans post stuff.
Aug 14, 2013 • 10:03 pmby Jack56
You can still be a Pistons fan and NOT like the logo…in fact, that only proves one is a faithful fan, b/c let’s face it…our logo is in the bottom 5 of the league.
Aug 15, 2013 • 6:32 amby tarsier
I would say that this fan site is a bunch of people who root for the Pistons (you know kinda the definition of a fan) instead of a community that overrates them. But we really do overrate them, even if less so than many fan sites.
Take last summer. There was a fair amount of debate about how good the Pistons would be last season with many claiming that they get no national respect. But on the whole, the prevailing opinion was that they’d probably miss the playoffs again, causing people like you to dismiss us all as “haters”.
I remember that my evaluation of the Pistons was lower than average for this site (although certainly not the lowest, closer to the middle) in believing that the Pistons win total would be in the low 30s. So it seems that I, a more negative than average fan on a site that seems to have more negative fans than most others, was still overly positive about how good that team was.
IN other words, fans are extremely biased. Here, we are a little less biased than normal. You could, I suppose, therefore conclude that we are bad fans. That’s fine, but it’s bullshit. Really, we’re just a little more likely to be right.
But enjoy your other sites, we certainly don’t need you here. I, for one, do not appreciate other people telling me what I am or am not a fan of.
Aug 14, 2013 • 6:28 pmby Jack56
Again, Pistons need a new logo and font: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/logo-241495-worst-bad.html?pic=2
Aug 14, 2013 • 6:45 pmby Kobina
And Pistons fans care about the opinion of some nobody from Orange County because???
Aug 14, 2013 • 10:05 pmby Jack56
National opinion says our logo isn’t the greatest…and local opinion says the same thing: http://www.freep.com/interactive/article/20130814/SPORTS18/130814003/detroit-free-press-sports-logo-bracket
Pistons got beat in the first round they competed.
Aug 14, 2013 • 10:59 pmby MrShourite
The expression on Greg’s face says it all!
Aug 14, 2013 • 11:46 pmby Desolation Row
How broke is this team’s design department?
Aug 14, 2013 • 11:48 pmby Geoff
Aug 14, 2013 • 11:57 pmby gmehl
I will go against the norm here and say that I really like the new alternate uniform. The font design in case anybody doesn’t realize is based on a muffler. It isn’t the easiest on the eyes but i don’t hate it.
Aug 15, 2013 • 12:10 amby Anthony
Wait.. How is it based on a muffler? not hating here, just curious on what your talking about lol
Aug 15, 2013 • 6:20 amby gmehl
The shaping of the font is based on a muffler. It has been tweaked slightly the last 5-6 years but it was in fact originally based on a muffler design. Here’s a couple of liprotocol back it up:
Aug 15, 2013 • 8:31 pmby gmehl
It has been tweaked over the years but the font is definitely based on a muffler

Patrick or Dan, what are your thoughts on what Greg might be able to on the open market? Is it too soon to speculate. Was wondering if one or both of you guys could do a post or a round table discussing Monroe’s upcoming free agency and visit some of these scenarios. Do you think he’s leaving? If so, how much will it take. Do you tho k he will add to his value this season playing alongside Smith, and Drummond or will his skills flourish playing alongside too talented big men? Does Minnesota signing of Pekovic affect the market for him, adversely or positively? Your thoughts gentleman? Do you think he even wants to play for the Pustons or go down south or to the east coast? should we try to trade him for a 1st rounder and a wing, or hold tight and hope we can re-sign him and not break the bank. Just food for thought. I think myself as well as other fans want to know you guys take on his future with us. Thanks again.
Aug 15, 2013 • 6:21 amby tarsier
The Pistons will definitely be able to re-sign him because he’ll be an RFA. It will kinda break the bank though.
Monroe is good enough that it is pretty much a sure thing that someone would be willing to give him a max deal. And that, unless Dumars is an idiot, he’ll match. So there is a lot less room for speculation with him than with most guys.
Barring a trade or major slippage in his play, it pretty much comes down to whether he’ll just sign a max deal with Detroit, whether he’ll accept a little less, or whether Detroit will wait for him to sign with someone else and then match the deal.
Aug 15, 2013 • 3:53 amby Ryan
I don’t like the collar on any of the jerseys and wish they’d go back to the classic circle collar. The font is weak as well muffler based or no. They’re not getting my money for this weak sauce jersey.
Aug 15, 2013 • 5:00 amby FireFrank
SICK JERSEY……for the Detroit Shock
Aug 15, 2013 • 7:50 amby just a fan
Am I the only one who thinks these jersey are hideous ??
Aug 15, 2013 • 11:15 amby tarsier
Probably not. Some people will love it and some hate it no matter how it looks.
Aug 15, 2013 • 10:47 amby mixmasta
All complains here are just based on the font. How amusing is that?
Aug 15, 2013 • 11:48 amby MrShourite
Yeah, the new look jerseys are not that aesthetically pleasing at all. They could have came better than that. Much better. Makes you miss the red jerseys.
Aug 15, 2013 • 11:55 amby MrShourite
Thanks for your insight Tarsier. You make it sound pretty simple, which it may be. I was soliciting for a post or article (more in-depth analysis) discussing the possible scenarios concerning Moose. We all know that the center position is his comfort zone. Will he be exposed playing at PF, or will Dre and Smith be able to hide his defensive inefficiencies? Will he still be used as a hub on offense or will Smith take away some of his touches? Will he develop that seemingly elusive midrange game? What is the likelihood that he is traded, signed long term, etc.
Aug 15, 2013 • 2:21 pmby tarsier
How he develops is a much more interesting set of possibilities. There is a lot up in the air on that count.
Aug 15, 2013 • 12:44 pmby Anthony
People who complain about the Pistons being named “Detroit Pistons” even though they’re in auburn hills are prolly the same people who refer to the selfs as Detroiters even though they’re from the suburbs!
Aug 15, 2013 • 2:39 pmby Max
The New York Giants and Jets play in New Jersey.
Aug 16, 2013 • 9:56 pmby G
I’d almost wish they’d gone back to teal for their alternate… ALMOST.
Aug 19, 2013 • 3:15 pmby MIKEYDE248
Not on Joe’s watch. That was the first thing he changed, because he hated it soooooo much. Too 90′s.
Aug 18, 2013 • 2:33 pmby Ricky Durbin
To the guy’s that say change the name or move the team…Bah ha ha!
Tell that to Dallas Cowboys etc.
