I wish we had stats on passes leading to free throws. Those don't count as assists, do they? I remember a tough pass by Calderon into Maxiell leading to throws. If you added those, I'm pretty sure the dif between Calderon as PG and either Bynum or Knight as PGs would be underlined. More generally, assists should be broken down into different types, with assists above replacement differentiated from ordinary assists. The difference of Calderon from Knight or Stuckey as PGs would be accentuated, although Bynum might hang with him on that one (considering that he's better than JC with lobs). btw, a mark of Calderon's excellence is that the connection between him and Maxiell (a potential minimum salaried guy) is beginning to look potent.

A word to the wise about Drtg's .. They are very vague indcators of how well a player plays defense .. There are some glaring examples where you would say they are absolutely wrong .. because they are ... I would go for Brandon Knight but respect your pick of Calderon nevertheless.. Presently .. Calderon's Drtg is better than Knight's .. and Austin Daye's is better than either one .. So .. take that stat and classify it as GARBAGE .. Dont ever bring up Drtgs as if they mean something .. they dont ..
