Brian Hill on Andre Drummond’s return: ‘We literally have had no discussion whatsoever as to any type of a timetable’

Dave Pemberton of The Oakland Press:

When Andre Drummond was first diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back, the timetable for his return was four to six weeks.

It’s now been four weeks, but there is no update as to when Drummond will return.

“I’ll be honest with you, I really can’t answer that question only because I don’t know,” Pistons assistant coach Brian Hill said when asked if he thought it would be close to six weeks now. “I know Andre is doing a lot of stuff with Arnie Kander, our strength and conditioning coach.

“We literally have had no discussion what so ever as to any type of a timetable of when he might be back. I just leave that entirely up to Arnie to say how things are going and when we might see him. But so far we haven’t had that discussion.”

I would love to see Andre Drummond play more this season, but the Pistons shouldn’t rush him back. At least his absence comes with the consolation prize of more lottery combinations.

Let him sit until he’s 100%, absolutely no reason to play him until then.

Lottery is rig there’s no way we a pick between 1-3 anyways. The lottery/draft in the nba is a joke. The least Stern could do is let us watch the ping pong balls get selected, otherwise people will look back, and not even that far, to New Orleans (nba owned team at the time) getting the number 1 overall pick just last year

There are always a lot of people looking to buy an NBA franchise. The Hornets did not need Davis to find a buyer. So what does the NBA gain by fixing the lottery? More importantly, consider how much it stands to lose if the fact got leaked. And how on earth does it keep that fact from getting out if it does rig it? There’s a representative from each team present. Why would the teams that are getting screwed not blab?

Even if you are so incredibly unintelligent as to believe the lottery really is rigged, what do you suppose Stern has against the Pistons? Cleveland, Portland, and the Clippers have all recently won it. How are they more desirable teams to get the top pick than Detroit?

And, going a step further into absurdity, assuming the lottery is fixed with a specific anti-Detroit bias, how does that change the fact that it is better for the Pistons to lose a bunch of games? Regardless of lottery results, teams with worse records get, on the whole, better picks.

The lottery being fixed is farfetched.  It just doesn’t make sense you could keep something like that quiet.

Where Drummond is concerned, I just wish that the Pistons were a little more open about communicating with their fans.  I don’t think anyone wants to hurry him back before he’s ready, but it would be nice to get updates as to how rehab is proceeding.

We better hope the Pistons’ future starting 5 isn’t currently on the roster. That would just be depressing.

the lottery is obviously rigged. Each team’s combinations aren’t released until after it takes place so they probly assign the combinations after they run the ping pong machine. The actual machine is just a decoy.

There are people in the room representing each team watching the process go down. They know their combinations beforehand. If any of them was getting shafted, they would have strong incentives to spill the beans.

That’s right- the lottery was fixed by Stern to give the Pistons Grant Hill, even though the post-Bad Boys Pistons were possibly the most hated team around the league.
