Detroit has enough skill on the roster to consistently beat the bottom quarter or so of the league, as well as compete with the middling teams on a semi regular basis... but there is an ocean sized gap between Detroit and the contenders. Frank coaches for the W's, not for the future, and I don't blame him for this. I just wish Dumars could force his hand and trade a few of the currently more skilled players for the potentially untapped potential talent that sits on the bench while we ride this currently 32 win projected pace (per Hollinger's odds). At least one more blue chip draft pick needs to be added before the Pistons can start a push for serious contention. I'd rather Joe D save this cap flexibility and focus on adding another young talent before bringing in any 'finishing piece(s) of the puzzle.' So bottom out a bit down the stretch, add a high draft pick, if possible resign Calderon to a short reasonable deal (otherwise let him walk - he's 12 years older than Drummond), and move on with cap space in tact for future trade/free agent possibilities.

The Pistons have become boring, by definition: (Uninteresting and tiresome; dull) What happened with, we're going to play fast, we're going to run, run, run! You bought yourself some standardbred horses but you are running them like pacers. Keep playing this way and the Palace will be a thing of the past.

As much as I hate to see the Pistons get blown out, it was nice to see Frank finally empty his bench and give some good minutes to them. When a game gets this far out of hand, there is no reason to keep the starters in.

I think he's only got higher than a D once or twice in the past month or so too. Good thing is that his minutes have been going down. Hopefully once Drummond returns, they will go down even more.

I agree that Monroe, Knight, Drummond & Calderon need to play more minutes. This was not the game to play Monroe 35-40 minutes in though. Seriously though, the Pistons have about as much disparity between their stars & bench players as the Heat do (although scaled down quite a bit), their minutes should be similar. You don't HAVE to roll out a B team every game, you can sub one or 2 guys at a time and switch the starters back in.

Core players need to play starter's minutes. I can tolerate a feeling things out session in the first couple of months of the season, but this 26 minutes a game stuff for someone like Monroe (cornerstone of the franchise) is intolerable.

If Moose is to be a star...
If BK7 is to be a primary scorer...
If they with Dre are to be the prospective future of the franchise...

Play those dudes at least 35 minutes a game.

Make Moose shoot
Force feed

Chalk this one up to Frank. No reason Monroe should only have 9 shots and less than 30 minutes after the way he's been playing.

Thats a scary thought when you realise that - barring any roster changes - 10 of those players will still be on contract with the team.
