Andre Drummond picked fifth, Brandon Knight last in Rising Stars Challenge draft

Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley held their draft last night for the the Rising Stars Challenge. O’Neal selected Andre Drummond fifth, and Barkley picked Knight 16th. Here’s the full draft order:

1. Damian Lillard, Team Shaq

2. Anthony Davis, Team Chuck

3. Kyrie Irving, Team Shaq

4. Kenneth Faried, Team Chuck

5. Andre Drummond, Team Shaq

6. Kawhi Leonard, Team Chuck

7. Klay Thompson, Team Shaq

8. Bradley Beal, Team Chuck

9. Harrison Barnes, Team Shaq

10. Ricky Rubio, Team Chuck

11. Chandler Parsons, Team Shaq

12. Tristan Thompson, Team Chuck

13. Dion Waiters, Team Shaq

14. Nikola Vucevic, Team Chuck

15. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Team Shaq

16. Brandon Knight, Team Chuck

The remaining four players were randomly assigned:

  • Team Shaq: Kemba Walker and Tyler Zeller
  • Team Chuck: Isaiah Thomas and Alexey Shved

I was off one pick on each of my predictions. I figured Drummond would go top four, but Faried jumped him. And I thought Knight would go undrafted, but he was selected ahead of Walker. I preferred Knight to Walker entering the 2012 NBA Draft, and Knight was better last year. But Walker is having a better season this year, and – not that any of this deserves real analysis – I would have have selected him ahead of Knight for this game.

Because recognizing that someone is not, as of yet, all that good is exactly the same as hating that person, right?

I like Knight but Kemba is having a better season, I would picked Kemba for sure. At least Knight is getting some love and he got drafted even if it was last lol I’ll be going for Team Shaq cause they got my boy Blocks by Dre!

Shaq’s team is waaaay better than Chuck’s. Doesn’t mean Chuck’s team can’t win, because this is a wonky exhibition game in which crazy things can happen. But they are working from an extreme talent deficit.

Also, I can’t believe how long it took for someone to pick MKG.

It’s a mock draft which neither chuck nor shaq take all that seriously. Can’t you guys say something about Knight that isn’t either a backhanded compliment or something that isn’t immediately followed by “but”?
