Shockingly, the Pistons are playing well with Monroe and Drummond both in.

If you have Millsap at $12M/yr, you can fetch more for that than a $12M expiring deal and one late draft pick. More like the expiring, a couple draft picks, and a limited value prospect.

Don't spend for the sake of spending. But there are valuable FAs out there. Smith, Jefferson, Millsap, even Calderon. Any of them on a decent contract will have more trade value than cap space to facilitate a Cleveland-Memphis type deal.

I agree with that point of view and I like Brandon Wright as well. Spending just to spend got us Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva so if we don't have any better option we ought to save and plan.

The Pistons definitely shouldn't look to spend for the sake of spending this summer. The free agent pool is weak. Pick up a nice and cheap role player like Brandon Wright and shore up the rest of the roster with low cost players, and hope to facilitate a trade like Cleveland just did with Memphis where a team just hands over quality players and a 1st rounder to save them money.

Anyone else notice in the full list that Brooklyn has a running cost of -$16M? How does that work? Not that it matters, just curious.
