There are valid points here. But the one about Maggette’s contract is a joke.

A) The Pistons still have expiring deals in Maxiell, Bynum, and Daye.

B) If the Pistons wanted to trade Cousins for just a trade exception plus a pick in the offseason, there would be takers.

C) We’re talking about Joe Dumars. He’s not going to use expiring deals or anything like that to acquire value at the trade deadline. He’ll sit on those assets to “see what we have” and “remain competitive” while failing to see what the Pistons have in their young, relatively unknown assets and competing for nothing but 10th place in the east.

I like Bledsoe, but am somewhat wary of him. He is reminiscent of Darren Collison. Avoid paying inflated prices for CP3′s backups who play great per-minute ball in a limited role. That may not be sustainable in a major role.

Seriously?!?!! How much value do you think an expiring deal has? The truth is none. It just has less negative value than a bad deal that lasts longer. So people will throw in an asset to make that swap.

If the Pistons could get Cousins for minor assets (Some combo of Prince, Max, JJ, Singler, English) and Maggette, that would be almost as big a steal as the Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard trades.

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed that the only player of the Lakers’ current core that they drafted or payed anywhere close to fair value for was Nash (and by anywhere close to fair value, I mean a HOF for two late first rounders).

Besides the bad attitude, the possible battle with the bulge, and the underwhelming production I’m not all that excited about Cousins’ ceiling. He’s a ox of a player. A real powerhouse with excellent footwork which he seems to have either a talent for or developed at very young age. His shot selection is questionable, which I’m certain will improve over time.

If we were to make a play at Cousins, I’m left with wondering how much better is he going to get? I personally believe he’s right at his ceiling now. I understand the Zach Randolph comparisons; however, Zach has a better touch and more range (out to 3). Zach didn’t play early in his career because he was behind Sheed and Jermaine O’Neal.

When I compare Cousins ceiling with Drummond’s I think we are barely scratching the surface with what we’ll get out of Drummond. So I would hate for DMC to come in and mess that up.

I think Cousins AKA DMC would be better served in his develop if he was able to be apprenticed into a dominate player. Boston would be a optimum place for his development. I heard they were making a play for him. Miami would also serve him well.

I’d give up Drummond and 2nd for Cousins and a 1st rounder. Sacs. 1st rounder this year is a high lottery. Figuring out how to keep the guy in line and not disrupting the entire team is a major issue. Second thought, nah, keep the DrummerDude. At least Cousins will fly… right Sir Royce W?

If you can get him for those three, sure why not. My guess is they want Maggette’s contract and to me Cousins isn’t worth that.

I would rather see what Maggette can get at the trade deadline rather than wasting it on Cousins now. If he’s still there come trade deadline, then maybe.

I’m not sure what logic your using in the article, but with people already complaining about Drummond not getting enough minutes I’m not sure how Cousins is going to help that.

Also, I don’t think Cousins helps this team, not unless you can flip him for someone that can actually shoot the basketball. I don’t see that happening without Cousins making a leap of faith with Frank (HA!).

If we traded for Cousins we probably have to give them Maggette’s contract which limits our flexibility at the trade deadline and in all reality in two months Cousins is probably cussing out Frank. So to put it simply, I don’t see how this deal works for us.
