I loved that alley-oop play they would always run with Walker D Russell and Macklin last year. It caught me by surprise the first time, but they always ran it with pretty good success.

if this guy turns out to be as good as Amir johnson, i still WONT feel a punch in the gut. He’s gonna be 27 at the end of the euro season, with not much upside. AT BEST, AT BEST he is a 5th big man on a non playoff team.

Calling him the next Jeremy Lin is a little too much. After all, Jeremy Lin was a true underdog story–an Asian kid out of Harvard who was sleeping on his brother’s coach and became an icon. I don’t see Macklin becoming iconic as that. Also, not to burst your bubble, but there have been numerous players whom have dominated the D-League, however have not had that transfer to the NBA game. I’m just sayin . . .

If this guy takes off Lin-style, I think it’s safe to say CV will have solidified himself as the most deservedly hated player in Detroit sports history.

from Vernon’s perspective:
He did all he was asked of him; he excelled when he got his chance (D League & Garbage minutes); and yet the Pistons couldn’t find room for him.
Why would he want to come back?

he definitely could be. I was disappointed that he didn’t get a real chance. But to be honest, we didn’t need him when we signed Vyacheslav. Greg Monroe and Drummond are the future at 4 and 5.
If Vyacheslav doesn’t work out, I say we should bring him back next year.
