Pistons preseason schedule doesn’t include Grand Rapids game
Date Opponent Location Time October 10 Toronto The Palace of Auburn Hills 7:30 P.M. October 12 at Toronto Air Canada Centre 7:00 P.M. October 13 at Milwaukee BMO Bradley Center 8:30 P.M. October 16 Orlando The Palace of Auburn Hills 7:30 P.M. October 18 at Miami American Airlines Arena 7:30 P.M. October 20 Charlotte The Palace of Auburn Hills 7:30 P.M. October 24 at Minnesota MTS Centre (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 7:00 P.M. October 26 Atlanta The Palace of Auburn Hills 7:30 P.M.
Before last season’s abbreviated preseason (due to the lockout), the Pistons had played a preseason game in Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena for eight straight years. I always thought that was a good way to connect with fans on the West side of the state, many of whom would need a taste of NBA basketball before committing to a full meal and driving to Auburn Hills.

Although it isn’t the greatest game to watch every year, I am bummed that the Pistons won’t be continuing this tradition in my home city. While I would much rather watch an actual game in Auburn Hills, this game was great to get friends more acquainted with the Pistons. Casual fans on the west side of the state become bigger fans through this game.

That seems like a strange decision. I guess I don’t care that much now that I no longer live in Grand Rapids. But I did used to enjoy being able to watch a game in Van Andel instead of having to drive a couple hours to see it.

No Toledo game this year either. I enjoyed the game they played here two years ago.

As a huge Pistons fan I am very sad and confused about this. I hope they tell us why.

I agree with you, there are many Pistons fans on this side of the State, too bad the Pistons don’t recognize that. Many of us here treck to The Palace every year, it would have been nice to honor this by coming to the West side at least during exhibition!

Wow 8 full preseason games. Another plus for the Pistons young players compared to last year.
Bummer about the GR game though.

Really surprised that the October 16 tilt against Orlando wasn’t scheduled for being played in GR with the DeVos footprint in Orlando and GR. That game really was a good way to draw some fans from the west side of state.
