At that time in 2009, Stuckey was our point gaurd of the future, so why would we have drafted Lawson? Personally, I wouldve rather went with Taj Gibson or at the very least BJ Mullens anyway.

why trade Daye for a second rd pick, when he is just as talented as any 2nd rd pick.... he is a shooter....who can stretch the floor, but you cant set him for 3-4 games put him in for 3-5 minutes...and then give him garbage time and expect him to be effective....

Draft a offensive player and then punish him because he isnt a defensive stopper doesnt make since.... Larry Brown did the same to Darko...not saying Darko was not going to bust anyway, but becoming the laughing stock of the city didnt help him either...\

I still remember him blowing that wide open dunk, and I remember the look he had on his face, like I cant wait to get out of this city..... The yes coaches are suppose to win, but they are also suppose to develop talent

Never would I imply that he should play the 5!! He has played the 2 so i meant the 2,3 and 4... Im not saying the kids gonna be a star.. But he was brought into a horrible situation with all of the coaching drama etc.. He may never work out but we have seen flashes from this youngster and i think we should look at him for 1 more year is all!! We dont pay him much at all and hes off the books next year anyhow. If u can get something solid in a trade for him great but its not likely and a second round pick like eveyone is saying is not gonna end up being someone with the size and potential that he has!! If he ends up sitting at the end of the bench fine but i promise your not gonna see a 15 man rotation so who cares! As far as Charlie V goes, It doesnt make sense to pay him 18 million to play somewhere else.. I understand it will give us cap space this year but its cap space that we wont use so it makes absolutely no sense what so ever to write that check... Hes a good teamate and even when not playing i always seen him on his feet trying to motivate the team!

maybe theres a way to combine daye and cv, so that way it will be dayes long arms and cv's weight all as one player

He can't play any of those three positions "well". The reason he hasn't locked down a specific role is that he gets exposed wherever you put him. His length isn't advantageous on defense whether he's guarding 3s 4s or 5s, as he has neither the foot speed or the strength to hold his own. Being 6'11" with long arms will ensure that he can get his shot off unblocked, but when it's not falling he's absolutely useless.

I hated the pick from the day the first rumors arose that Joe was interested in him, and I hate it more now.

Well you get the idea, he'll do much better for another team than he ever did for the Pistons and we'll all tear our clothes and gnash our teeth.

Well a typical lite beer is made by brewing a slightly different but comparable batch of beer and mixing it about 50/50 with water.

So maybe crispus meant taking KD's stats, changing them slightly (but not really changing the value of them--maybe add a rebound and take away an assist or such) and cut them 50/50 with water (no production).

Daye and Knight,
PG was hardly a major need anyway. The Pistons also had Walker Russel Jr. He was obviously no game changer but lots of fans liked him because he was a "true" pass-first PG. And he would have more than competently given the Pistons all they needed through this summer when there are so many PGs available that it wouldn't be too difficult to get a starting caliber one (Dragic, Lowry, Brooks, Sessions, Lin, Nash, Kidd, Williams, Calderon, Billups and I might even be missing one or two). Obviously, the Pistons weren't gonna wind up with Williams, Kidd, or Nash, but their presence on the market makes it all the easier to get some of the other guys.

"Stuckey was clearly not the answer at point guard anymore"

At the time, there was lots of debate as to whether Stuckey was the answer at PG. So I''m not saying he clearly was, but it wasn't clear either way.

"Knight and Lawson would form one of the smaller backcourts in the NBA, so that would not work"

Small is not necessarily a problem, especially in the backcourt. But even so, the Pistons still had Stuckey. So it's not like they wouldn't have been able to pick and choose who to use when. It might not work, but if so, it would probably be because of incompatible playing styles (which I doubt would end up being a problem). The top priority in defending guards is to stay in front of them and get a hand in their faces when they shoot. No matter how tall you are, you rarely block the shot. For staying in front, height is a non-factor. For getting a hand in the face, as long as you're not routinely giving up over 6 inches, you should be ok.

"Knight is better suited at the point guard position and trying to make him a combo guard might hurt his value"

To the best of my understanding, even now, nobody is trying to make Knight a combo guard. But he is playing as one because, at least as of yet, that seems to be his most comfortable playing style. Look at the play from this past season. When Stuckey and Knight were out there, it was basically 50/50 who was the PG. Knight's best talent currently is spot up shooting. Is that more of a PG or SG thing to have as your number one skill?
