I am sure if they make Drummond wear a Happy Feet backpack around all year as his rookie initiation he will grow up very quickly. You could only imagine how funny it would look :-)

I don’t understand how it makes him ‘a joke?’ Personally, I certainly don’t want solely fluff coverage, but at this point, there’s nothing to analyze with Drummond yet. We know he’s talented, young, raw and untested. And we know he likes Penguin movies and that Greg Monroe makes fun of him about that. It’s obviously not serious coverage, but I also think it is important, considering how bad the team chemistry/locker room on this team was just a short time ago, to show that these guys do actually like each other, joke around, are embracing an impressionable rookie, etc.

I know the media is trying to give insight into who Drummond is as a person and that the Pistons want to temper expectations for him but could they please not make this kid a joke before he even gets a chance. Some things just don’t need to be reported. so he’s 18 an still a big kid I think we all got it by now, as long as he is working hard and trying to improve he could be watching Rainbow Bright for all I care.

Yeah i think there is a good chance that Drummond could take as long as Jermaine O’Neal to develop. It took O’Neal 5 years to break out in the year he was traded from the Pacers to the Trailblazers to click.

It is an exciting thought… If Drummond becomes just decent as far as “offensive skill level” he’s a potential 10-year all star center. We just need to be patient and hope it happens. He’s so young that he could easily take 5 years to reach that level, assuming he eventually does. If we’re fortunate, Pistons could be a huge joy to watch as he slowly matures as a player. If he ever becomes a genuinely skilled player, look out…

Next Amare? Next Ibaka? Next Howard? Next Kwame? Let’s hope he’s not next Greg Oden nor Thabeet. For now he’s just next to a couple of rookies trying to find a spot. He’s just Drummond and I really hope the name Drummond dismisses all “next” stuff and just become a synonym to greatness.
