Raymond Felton not interested in Pistons this time around
Conan Gasque of SCnow (hat tip: I am a GM):
Felton said the ideal system for him would be similar to the fast-paced style the New York Knicks used when he was with the team two years ago.
New York is among the places he says he could end up next season. He says Portland also is still in the mix along with Phoenix and New Jersey.
Felton showed interest in the Pistons when he was last a free agent, and Tayshaun Prince advocated for Detroit acquiring a veteran point guard this summer. So, on some level, Felton to the Pistons makes sense.
But Detroit’s slow pace probably keeps Felton from being interested, and the Pistons’ frontcourt needs probably keep them from pursuing Felton.

Not bad news imho. I can’t see him running the floor up and down with a fast pace game as he’s saying…I remember him being overweight and shooting more than running last season. His last year was probably his worst all-time. We don’t need a veteran guard capable of giving 6 assist per game and losing 3 balls in the same night while shooting .300 beyond the arch and barely .400 from the field…do we? No way he’s underrated in my opinion.

Felton’s trash. He’s not even top 25 IMO. He had a great year with the Knicks before getting traded, but every pg is good (or was good) under D’Antoni’s system. He went to Portland and sucked it up and went back to being mediocre. As a back up I guess he would be ok but I rather get Machado through the draft then take a chance on Felton…plus Felton would cost more and we need to use that money on getting more big men to fill the paint.

You’re not the only one in love with Machado, I’d love to see him in Detroit

Yes, hopefully we get Machado and get rid at the same time of Bynum. He has been awful this year, his worst since a Piston. We’re not going to get much more from him so it’s time for a change. This set of guards looks nice: Stuckey, BK, Machado and a veteran PG plus BG (more likely).

felton was horrible last year here in portland. not only did he show up fat and out of shape, but he ended up blaming the coach for his problems.
while mcmillan wasn’t blameless in the entire matter, felton, by far was the biggest culrpit. for those felton skeptics who always thought he looked a bit chubby, even when he played his best, that impression is probably correct. even after he “got in shape” later on in the season, you could still see that he was carrying extra weight. ridiculous. he even acknowledged that he’d finally hired a personal chef last season to cook for him in order to get in shape, but how many years has he been in the league?
no thanks. he’ll get decent numbers in certain systems, but he is a very limited player who has a demonstrated history of being fat.
why on earth would any team rebuilding bring a guy like him on board?
