As much as fans dislike Joe Dumars since 2008, the man knows how to groom talented executives like Ken Holland does.

Please take him. I don’t know if its just coincidence, but ever since he became Joe’s right hand man, most of Joe’s moves have been awful.

Please, please take Perry. Take him far away from this mess he’s helped create.

So which is higher/better? President or GM? I assume it would follow that the same relative standing would go to VP and asst GM.

The President oversees the entire operation, including the GM, entertainment, and staff. The President directly responds to the owners regarding financial numbers, attendance projections, and possible areas for growth or downsizing. Usually the President is the face of the organization for operational meetings and at the annual report meeting for the ownership group.
The GM on the other hand is responsible for the basketball operations, coaching, player development, scouting, and contract negotiations. While the GM gets all the media attention, it’s the President that often has a lot of influence with the ownership group and operational staff.
