Tom Y is right. Oden has said he probably won’t look to sign with a team until possibly mid-season. Also, like every free agent in the world right now, there were rumors he’d like to play for the Heat.

I felt Andre, and really all five guys on the podium, did quite well at the press conference. Andre stuck close to a script, but I give him credit for refusing to be baited concerning work ethic and disappoint about going lower than most projected (as I remember he himself predicted anywhere from 2 to 7).

Oden has said he will take a year off to rehab and then try to come back, probably several teams will be checking on him. I hope the pistons will too, though that becomes less important now with Drummond.

Portland payed him 8 MIo, one of the stupiest moves they made for someone who had proved nothing but being injury-prone. There is no reason Oden could ask for more than the Minimum and for that the Pistons should gamble on it…getting him ready to play 20 Minutes a night of the bench…

I’ve long been in favor of taking a chance on Oden. But that would be all about money. It is very hard to place which dollar amount Oden becomes the risk–but it gets lower every season. The fit is also now getting less good with Detroit because a) they may now have a great frontcourt and b) they don’t look to be a capped out but terrible anyway team much longer. That is the sort of team that wants to take high risk, high reward moves–because there is really nothing to lose. Now the Pistons have something to lose again.

Didn’t know where to put this but just read an article on nba.com, Singler has confirmed his return to the NBA, Dumars confirmed he will be signed on the 11th of July! Looking like a good time to be a Pistons fan. If only we could resign Macklin and amnesty Villanueva, my season would be made.

Nothing new to say here. They did have to take him. The risk is worth the reward for Detroit. If they passed, and Drummond became a defensive monster in three years, there would a loss of employment somewhere.
