It really is a shame that the NBA has yet to find a way to help out teams that need it most yet still reward high levels of play rather than tanking.
This is certainly not an idea that would come close to totally solving tanking, but I would love to see GMs of comparably talented teams essentially bet with each other on which of their teams will outperform the other by trading draft picks before the season. That way, the team that wins more actually gets a higher pick. Also, it shouldn’t be that hard of a sell to some GMs if the idea were brought to their attention. By and large, I think they are a prideful lot so most of them probably think their teams are better than other teams who third parties think are comparable. If both GMs think they have the better team, why wouldn’t they pull the trigger on such a deal?

so you have a 20 point lead against a lottery team missing 3 starters with only 5 more games to go in a season where you’re out of the playoffs and you still cannot find a way to get a young player on the court?
how ridiculous is that?
playing ben wallace while a guy the team needs to find out about sits.
this is the face of mediocrity.

I really wonder what the Pistons are trying to do. Are they trying to win by 50+ points? Go for 130 points in a game? I mean it’s good that they refuse to tank, but… I don’t know. Let just hope that the Pistons could pull what Portland did in ’07 (the lottery, not the draft pick). The Blazers were the seventh worth team, yet somehow got the first pick overall.

Why do you suppose the huge advantage didn’t convince Frank to put in Macklin?

I guess he’s not in Frank’s plans for the future

I hope Gilbert gets fined for tanking (even with 3 starters out).

it is impossible to know what the thinking is regarding macklin.

I’d guess Maclin was not on the active roster for the game.

the obvious question is why he was not on the active roster?
considering everything…the idea that he is not on the active roster is mindbogglingly stupid.

Frank said he would play Macklin when they go on the road. But yeah I still would have given him some play.
