ok i’ll insert RFA Nicholas Batum, but only if we get Davis because then we’d have to get serious about building a contender. I’d overpay for him too.

Why do people bother to reference things like this? The entire point of comparing a current situation to a past one is the potential to use the past outcome as having predictive value. For something like the lottery, that is not only unnecessary but also misleading. We know the odds of any given outcome in the lottery. It is irrelevant how those odds played out in the past. If the 4th worst team got the top pick for 6 years running, that has no bearing on who will win it the 7th year. We use comparisons to the past to make predictions about thing like championships because for those, there is not a handy tabulation of odds. But of course, that method gives us lesser predictive powers. We know the odds for the lottery exactly, you can’t improve on that.

I think it is just a Piston’s fan way of making their half-hearted tanking semi-bearable while it happens. Logically, it makes no sense to believe the past has any bearing on the present — I don’t know if he actually was doing that so much as trying to play the ridiculous optimist pointing out that there is a slim chance of the Pistons landing a top pick.

Can we call the Toronto game on Sunday a “must lose”? Really wish Bargnani was still playing but I think the cannucks can pull it out if Frank only gives Stuckey and Knight 20 minutes. Go Raptors!

though I’d rather see us pick up an under the radar big like Anthony Randolph (if we don’t get A.Davis), Jason Thompson, JJ Hickson, Darrell Arthur or maybe even Mareese Speights (in that order). Think there’s definitely value here although all are RFAs.

I hope we give Stuck and Monroe a little less minutes ’cause of all the wear and tear they’ve experienced this year. And I hope they give Big Ben some meaningful minutes too, heck I wouldn’t mind if he starts against the Raps and the 76ers. If what he says is true, those indeed will be his last 2 home games as a Piston. Thanks a bunch Big Ben.

Big games for Detroit tonight are GS@HOU and NJ@MIL. Unfortunately, it looks like Scola might be going off.

Just seen 2 recent mock drafts having us take Rivers…maybe team needs weren’t taken into account but the rest have us getting Sullinger, and one other has us getting PJIII so if we stay at nine, which isn’t a given, I’m sure we’ll end up with either Sullinger or Jones the Third with Rivers being the dark horse
