Lakers trade for Ramon Sessions rather than Will Bynum

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press:

Guess they passed on Bynum RT@WindhorstESPN Lakers have agreed to a trade for Cavs point guard Ramon Sessions for a future draft pick.

Does that mean the Lakers had an offer from the Pistons for Will Bynum?

Sucks if we couldve gotten that 1st round pick, but cant blame Joe for not trying. If I were LA I’d have chosen Sessions over Bynum too.

Doubtful that the Lakers would’ve offered a first for Bynum. Probably a second rounder if there was a legit offer for him.

Honestly, he doesn’t solve their PG problem anyway. They need a 30ish minutes a game guy. Will would’ve just been another backup to throw into the mix with Fisher and Blake.

what about trying to swing a trade for mGhee from washington?   he would give the pistons a shot blocking presence that they need and he doesnt make that much money.  sources say that the pistons and wizards had talks a few weeks ago.    any news?     are the pistons going to do anything at the trade deadline or are they just going to stand pat.

      According to this report:

The Wizards have a really heavy asking price for McGee, which means he’d probably cost the Pistons their lottery pick and one player out of their young core.

I get that he has skills that the Pistons could use, but no way would I give up any of those things for him.

My take on that report is that they just want a starter in return, and are having trouble matching salary because he only makes $3 mil.

I think Maxiell would work and is a starter now.

I dunno … Spears’ source saying “they are asking for the world” is a lot different to me than “they are asking for Jason Maxiell.”

Even if they only do want a starter, Maxiell is only a starter b/c the Pistons frontcourt is weak. On a good team, he’s a reserve.

            Completely agree.

            A) McGee isn’t that smart, and he doesn’t listen.  Watch him dribble the ball all the way up court sometime.
            B) He’s still a young, athletic 7-footer.  Not that the Wiz are the masters of wheeling and dealing, but even they aren’t going to give him up for pocket lint, which is what we have to offer them.  He’s not worth any of our good, young players and they wouldn’t be interested in any of our expensive, old players, even if the numbers work.  Yeah, I’d flip Max for him in a heartbeat, but they’re not that dumb.

They’ll give us Andray Blatche, tho (speaking of knuckleheads) -
“Lewis earns $22 million and Blatche makes $6.4 million, but Lewis hasn’t played since the all-star break with continuing knee troubles and teams have been reluctant to even listen to pitches for Blatche, according to multiple league sources. Two sources confirmed that the Wizards reached out to the Detroit Pistons a few weeks ago but were quickly rebuffed before the two sides could even discuss specifics.” (Washington Post)

            OMG! McGee traded for Nene!

So I guess that answers what the Wiz were looking for for JaVale. Just a top five center, that’s all.

I take it back.  They are the masters of wheeling and dealing, at least for now.

I had suggested Daye and Bynum for Thabeet on previous article. Few minutes later, Thabeet gets traded to Blazers.

Well, the Rockets got a still solid center in Camby for their playoff push for him and he’s also an $11 million expiring contract. The Pistons couldn’t compete with that offer. Houston would have no use for Daye (they have Parsons, Budinger, Lee, Martin and Williams on wings) or Bynum (they have Lowery and Dragic at the point).

karl is one of the most demanding coaches in the league.
he apparently doesn’t think that mcgee is too dumb to be a starting center for him.

The pistons aren’t preparing for the future period they of made a deal involving sending Ben Gordon due to the fact no room on the roster for him due to being overpaid. The pistons are so selfish will bynum would make some team a great backup point guard, they could offer the rights to kyle singleton and at least got a much needed player or even draft pick or funds in return.
