I don’t feel like they lost because of defense though. After getting ahead by 10 points, the Clippers ramped up their defense, Griffen and Monroe went at each other like a playoff game and the Pistons just couldn’t score much. CP3 hit at least 3 crucial shots down the stretch when the degree of difficulty of each shot was such that he should have missed at least one. This game really came down to him taking over as the best player on the court.

actually, we agree on that point. i actually liked this game in lots of ways.
other than the inexplicable coaching move, they played well and it was a fun game to watch. and they still lost, which is in the team’s long term interest.
and monroe had a great game in la, which is always good for an athlete’s reputation. you can bet he’ll get some good pub even though they lost.

Yeah, it was definitely a bad move. But i won’t complain. Pistons aren’t making the playoffs, so I want as many close losses as possible.

I’m more confused by the constant Tay isos at the end of the game. Tay’s offensive abilities are not found in isos.

that is what makes the whole 3 guard lineup so dumb.
the guards were playing poorly…the big guys were playing well…and in crunch time, you sit one of the bigs that had been playing well, to insert a guard who’s had an off-night…
as i said, brilliant!

wow…what a dumb thing to have done!
you have a 6 point lead, your team is playing well, your big guys are playing well and containing the clippers’ bigs, and you go to a 3 guard line up, taking one of those big guys off the floor.
JJ was killing la and frank sits him and runs 3 guards.
brilliant!
well, at least he understood that his best player, monroe, should be on the floor at the end of games.
