Pistons need a big that can play over the rim Defense and offense. Someone who can catch a pass and dunk the ball. Sullinger is not tall enough or athletic enough for what the pistons need. If Monroe is the face of the future with Knight and stucky then we need something in center that is opposite of Monroe. I don’t think that with the 7th or 8th pick were going to get that. But if i had to choose at those projected picks we’ll be at, Perry Jones would be the guy. 6′ 11 athletic over the rim player with a huge ceiling. Iv’e heard all the talk of sometimes he don’t show up but at 7 or 8th pick he could turn into a beast. Trade max while he’s having his best season in the nba and package him with CV or someone to get anything better in return. comments would be awesome! Thanks fellas

Daye and Knight I agree Le’ Bryan Nash would be a good pick up in the 2nd rd with one of our 2nd rd picks.. @ 6’7″ and 230lbs. he would be a good future SF for the Pistons if he does in fact declare which alot of us hope he does cuz the kid is a beast and since we really have no future SF then why not take him cuz Daye isn’t the awnser and J.J would be best to keep coming off the bench as he’s not quick enough to guard the LeBron’s or the Melo’s where Le’ Bryan Nash can……

Sullinger is no Love, he’s more of a Glenn Davis IMO and Love is plying well, and I’m sure Sullinger will too but are the Wolves winning games? No.

Sullinger isn’t athletic enough to guard athletic PF’s and is too short and a bit on the heavier side to contest shots and pose as a defensive threat down low

Greg should be a PF and we need a center, not another un athletic PF

Daye and Knight, I hadn’t heard of the kid, LeBryan Nash before reading your post. I, then, went to checkout some footage of his game and the kid can play.
He has post game, a face the basket game, can put the ball on the floor and get his own, and has nice range on his jumper.
He may be a star someday in the League!

Chris H. I remember the weeks leading up to the 2003 Draft, when I would post at the Detroit News – Pistons Talk Forum that Joe should draft Dwayne Wade. I received so many flaming responses that I turned into the Human Torch. Fools kept saying: “Joe should draft Darko Millic.”
We have all seen how that decision turned out. Dwayne has been a super-duber star and Darko has and is a pile of shit.

Just because the dude doesn’t jump out of the gym doesn’t make him ineffective.
Neither Laimbeer nor Mahorn had great hops (which must be the athletic limitation you’re referring to), but they were pretty effective, I’d say.

More recently, in 2008, this was the knock on draftee Kevin Love (per nbadraft.net), “lacks great athleticism”. Another 2008 draftee, Brook Lopez, was “Not incredibly fluid athletically”.

No doubt both those big men overcame their “deficiencies,” and I’m sure most Piston fans would happily take those “non-athletic” guys.

Is Sullinger in the class of Love or Lopez? Probably not… but I think he should be judged on the full package. Not dismiss him because he’s no Dwight Howard freak.

Too bad he’s just about as athletic as a snail…Monroe is about the same athletically so it would be a nightmare if we drafted Sullinger, I’m sure that’s what everyone on here realizes

Our most damning win came against Cleveland (as far as lottery hopes). We might end up having to settle for a Zeller. We are currently in the number 8 spot. Overall, a good get a 8. I think I would get Sulliger though. He is a rebound machine. That is unless Coach Frank frees Macklin!!!

Still so much disrespect for Sullinger. I may be the only one beating the Sullinger drum here. I still contend Piston fans knock the guy down a few pegs because he was an overhyped freshman. OSU thought he’d take the world by storm, and he didn’t do much other than be a less-effective Greg Oden. But his game grew quite a bit this year.

If you watch OSU in the tourney, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. He’s a dude who can help the Pistons. On that list above, I’d put him solidly in Tier 3.
