don't hold your breath for a first overall pick, but surely you do realize that on average, more losses do result in higher picks. for instance, if you have the third worst record and the lottery is won by say 1, 2, and 6, you end up with the 4th pick. but if you had the 4th worst record, you woulda ended up with the 5th pick. so while you may not have won the lottery, your pick was still improved by losing more.

Everybody needs high draft picks. Doesn't mean you're going to get them. Once a team with the 12 best record jumped into the top three. Not holding my breath.

How did the Clippers turn it around? Didn't they draft Blake Griffin? Pretty high up right? He's the basis of their turn around. Chris Paul was obtained through trading a 7th (Gordon) and 8th (Aminu) pick in the draft also, and Griffin had 100% part of the reason why Paul would even consider allowing that trade in the first place. Having the gall to say that you think we already have enough talent makes me not even want to complete a response, but yeah, Monroe and hopefully Knight and Jerebko are the only talents on our team right now that have the possibility to play a part in future Pistons contending teams. Other than that, we need high draft picks. NEED!!!

listened to the radio feed from NJ for a while, on nba.com.
the NJ announcers stated from the very start of the game that detroit seemed to know exactly what NJ was running, that it was like a playoff series because the pistons were prepared for anything that they ran.
nice coaching job.

The flaw in this ointment is the lottery. I am absolutely sure that someone behind the Pistons, no matter where they finish, will vault ahead of them. This may not be logical but watch it happen. And as evidence of this, the Bobcats (used to be the Clippers but somehow they seem to have turned it around but we'll see how long that lasts). My thing is that the Pistons have more talent than people give them credit for, but it hasn't (yet) translated into wins. Part of this is that there are young players who have yet to find their ceilings (being trapped in the basement) and part of this is the chaos that has prevailed for the past three plus years (some of it but not of course all of it due to injuries). But look at Jason Maxiell. Two weeks ago it looked like he was on his way OB. Suddenly he is again doing the things we all loved before. If only some of that could rub off on Daye.

I said over a week ago that the Pistons might go undefeated this week due to the opponents they were facing but also because it is their first 3 game week of the year. Maybe, they actually got in some practice and were prepared for these games?

I don't believe in a culture of losing. You know what fixes that? Winning, like, more than you lose. How do you win more than you lose? Get better players. How do you get better players when all of the players you have are signed through 2015 and you don't have any money to spend and you can't trade any of them? The draft. And where are the best players in the draft located? Near the top. How do you get a high draft pick? By losing.

I wouldn't care about winning or losing if this team had some sort of financial flexibility or trade assets to improve itself in other ways, but it doesn't. This team as constructed has one avenue for securing better players at the moment, and winning is putting road blocks on this avenue.

gordbrown, is 100% on this one in my opinion. Teams don't get better by getting worst, as the conventional wisdom will lead one to believe.

Continuous losing, breeds a cultural of losing; attention to the tangibles become dull and incongruient to everything that is associated with winning.

I say like a professional. Get better individually and as a team and draft wherever WE end up drafting.
