The guy is only 31, but has the miles of about a 34 yr old spending the first 6 yrs of his career deep into the playoffs, as well as playing in the Olympics, AND 4 yrs of college. He's old, has nothing left to accomplish, no drive, motivation, or reason to play hard, and that;'s just what he is, and what Joe paid for. Deal with it.

i don't see how fans can be mad at prince for taking the money and running.
the person responsible, the person who should be the object of hostility for the move is joe d. he made the offer, he signed him.
who can blame prince for taking advantage of an offer that was probably better than anything he could have gotten anywhere else.
only one person responsible for the tay fiasco - joe d.

wrong. trading chauncey was the move that set the franchise down its current path of self-destruction.
every bad move can be tied to that horrible move. and the idea that it was a good move, in theory, is ridiculous.
it was a bad move from the moment conceived of and then executed and the last few years have done nothing to minimize the damage of that one dumb move.
and everything...the BG and CV signings, the rip fiasco, everything followed as a result of that disaster.
btw, saw the clippers and chauncey last night here in portland and he looked like the chauncey of old.
basically, he is the same player. he really hasn't lost much at all, and may even be in better shape now. he certainly looks a bit trimmer.
he was up to his old tricks...hitting a couple of late 3 pointers ...getting to the foul line at the end of the game to get some easy points. at the end of the game, he took over for the clippers, not chris paul, and he almost helped the clippers pull one out against the blazers.
funny, detroit still hasn't replaced him in the 4 seasons he's been gone. not even close.

@Rick:

I don't think fans are blaming Prince or angry at Prince. I think many fans are baffled by the contract he received.

If he's the fourth or fifth best player on a good team, who wouldn't love him? But as one of the oldest, highest paid players on a bad rebuilding team, he's certainly going to draw the ire of fans. I would actually argue that fans detest Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva and their contracts more than Prince at this point.

I like Prince. I think he's an intelligent player who has had a solid career and there are a number of teams he would help. I'm not mad at Prince for taking a generous contract at all, that's his right. No one should blame him for doing that. I do question the organization's decision to give him that contract considering his age and their other financial burdens.

Thanks, Patrick it seems that Piston fans cannot grasp the fact that no matter what the team is a bunch of young parts mixed in with old, then combine the fact that I am no fan of the ri current coach and you have a recipe for disaster. Why blame Prince, well because he is teh fans easiest target. See this is what gets me the most about myopic fans in that when we were winning they loved this dude and now that we are losing it is his fault for everything that ails the team. C'mon man their line up is all perimeter and if you cannot bang unside in this league you will get killed. We have no one and I mean no one on thsi team that anyone fears. When we were winning noone feared Prince so it should come as no suprise he came back for basically nothing to help right the ship when he could have ran anywhere got paid and actually been a part of a realsitic team. I give the man credit for sticking it out. These are teh same fans that probably wanted Grant Hill back for sentimental reasons. I ll take a 31 Tayshaun over a 37 Hill at whatvere price they paying Tay. This team sucks as a collective sum and it is not all on Tayshauns plate. They would be even sorrier (if thats a word)if he were not on the team. Get off this silly notion that he is hindering another player when the other players have had a training camp and whatever other time they have had to unseat him. This should send a loud message to all those hating on him" They do not have anyone that is better than him to his position" Maybe if that was the case then we would see someone other than Prince alas we do not an people are pulling straws. Be like me watch a little then change the channel. I knew our time would come like this when we were winning just did not kow it would happen like this. Oh YEAH WHEN WILL PEOPLE STOP SAYING Dumars will get fired when the owner signed him and basically signs off on everything he does and more than likely has final say in all personel matters. How does everyone conveniently overlook this major factor? BTW who will replace him...just asking

The guards are throwing the ball away and the bigs are not defending the rim. You can't expect to win any games when your guards are turning the ball 4 out 5 times without even getting into the offense in the first quarter with a margin for error that is so low.
Prince's minutes are down by a few minutes, maybe due to a lot of blowouts giving him less fourth quarter minutes where he would figure prominently, and he is shooting poorly--though he is shooting a normal 3 pt pct.
However, while Prince is right about the rhythm, he is acting lot the bunch of you who are complaining about him in that he is very spoiled due to winning and impatient with losing. Frank was right last night when he made the analogy of labor pains.
The schedule could not really have been worse to this point and the Pistons will now be playing the most winnable stretch of games they have played so for by the number of miles to the Moon.

At 31, I can’t claim he’s “old” even by basketball standards. Though I suppose he does have some mileage on those tires.

31 is certainly beyond young and even beyond "middle age." He's certainly old insofaras his best days are behind him.
