Tayshaun Prince re-signs with Pistons
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:
Tayshaun Prince will sign a four year, $27 million dollar deal to stay with Detroit, league sources tell Y! Sports.
More thoughts coming, but this isn’t surprising. Sign and trades are difficult to execute, and this was probably the Pistons’ only chance to get any value from Prince.

That’s cool, I still think we’re going to do a Sign&Trade…

The Pistons can’t do a S&T once they’ve signed him. They have to wait a while now before he is eligible for trading.

I am happy with that deal, tay actually deserves more than 6.5 m. not sure how this stunts the growth of daye and jonas, but as a pistons fan very excited for his return. i would have still liked some sign and trades for big men like kaman, jefferson, millsap..

Hmmm. What comes next?
Monroe/BW
JJ? / Max / Ver
Prince / Daye
Rip / BG
Stuckey ?/ Knight / Will

What’s good, too, is that the deal doesn’t sound prohibitive enough for other teams to shy away from trading for Tayshaun. Unless he falls off a cliff statistically, that is.

What’s bad is that it runs 4 years. You want to be able to guarantee him off the books in 3 years when BG and CV leave for the potential of a big free agency.

I think Utah could do better for Al Jeff. They’d probably want to move him to cut salary. Plus taking Monta also takes minutes from Alec Burks, a player who I think was a good get for them in the draft. I’d love it for Detroit though, even if Biedrins continues to suck.

Fair enough. I think Monta is underrated. he gets a reputation as an inefficient gunner. But he’s actually a decently efficient gunner. Which is a huge difference. But yeah, I basically feel like Ellis or Curry would make a good trade partner for Jefferson or Millsap. And at that point, I’d love for Detroit to take Biedrins in exchange for either SG just to get one off the roster. Minor parts like Jerebko or Daye may also need to change hands. But I still feel like the basic structure is reasonable.

And Daye’s ADP drops 30 places.

this is good, we keep a high performing player at a low price…. instead of letting valuable players go for nothing, and and keeping the underperformers.

now jerebko can be backup 3 and Daye can be backup 2.

Yay, the backup 2, behind Gordon and Rip who both want starter’s minutes. And Stuckey who will probably get significant minutes at SG.
