Guys like Arenas and Billups are threatening to be disgruntled on non-contending teams. So far, that threat has allowed both players to escape the waiver process. Should the Pistons call their bluff and hope to change their minds? Not sure their is a right answer, even if your getting a bargain.

I can't comprehend how amnestied players (like Arenas) aren't getting bid on. For instance, if the PIstons had bid a vet's minimum for whatever the maximum number of years they could offer (4?), presumably it would have been the highest bid since Arenas cleared waivers without any bids. While I ma not high on Arenas at his point, surely that would be a risk worth taking. Worst case scenario, they could cut him and be out about $1M for the next couple seasons. Best case scenario, he becomes a starting quality guard who at a minimum contract, could be instrumental in returning to contention or flipped for several assets from a contender.

Hopefully Knight will fill in Detroits need for a play-maker as the team is alreday crowded with shoot first players in an already crowded back court.
