Jonas Jerebko ‘looks terrific,’ Pistons will likely retain restricted free agent
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:
Witnesses to Detroit RFA Jonas Jerebko working out at Attack Athletics in Chicago say he looks terrific after recovering from Achilles tear.
Teams will likely shy away from offering Jerebko because of Detroit’s determination to match, but he had a strong rookie season 2 years ago.
If Jonas Jerebko is completely healthy, that’s a huge win for Pistons fans. No matter how well the team plays this season, he’ll be a joy to watch.
Players: Jonas Jerebko

I think our SF spot will be in fine shape even w/o Singler this year. Assuming they acquire a better big man to start next to Monroe, I see JJ getting half his minutes as backup PF, and the other half as backup SF. We can give Daye 25-30 min/gm as the starting SF and see if he’s got it what it takes to be a starter, and if not, we can always go to Jonas to start at SF. He played like a seasoned vet for us at SF as a rookie. I feel good about him as our starting SF if Daye proves he cant handle it.

I think there is no doubt that Jonas will start. What happens with trades/free agency will decide if he is our starting SF or PF though.

Remember that Jonas spent most of the time at the 4, supplanting an incredulous Charlie V. If we don’t get Haywood (who I’m sure will join the ring chasing contingent of free agents), I have my money on JJ starting at the 4. I prefer him off the bench, but I’m convinced Joe D doesn’t have a good option for PF at this point.
