In fact I think it was a worse draft pick when consider the subsequent future. The Pistons were still one of the best teams in the league for 5 years after the Darko pick. The 76-77 Pistons missed the playoffs for 6 straight years after Bad News' first season. It sounds like Bad News turned the Pistons into the NBA's version of the Spirits of St. Louis that year. The stories about Bad News are just unending....cracks me up every time. I agree. In fact I think it was a worse draft pick when consider the subsequent future.
