Yeah, and in reality Gordon hasn't been played correctly so what do you expect out of him? Lets see how Gordon plays when we give him a 6th man role with a consistent 30 minutes a game before we throw him under the bus...

6th best sounds about right. Think about how we judge drafting. If a team drafts well that means they got 1-2 good players in the lottery, those players help the team win more games, thereby placing their subsequent picks later in the draft. And Patrick pointed out just how rare it is for guys that get picked late to pan out and have an impact. The Pistons have only had - what 3? - lottery picks in the last decade and one was because of a trade. However, they have found solid players mid-late 1st round and 2nd round. There's just no way that a team has one great draft after another for a decade because if their drafts were really so great then their picks would get later and later as a result - decreasing the likelihood of getting an impact player. So I think the Pistons being ranked 6th is about right.

Despite the Darko pick, I don't think many can argue against Dumars when it comes to draft selections. He's routinely found quality with later picks. He's a good drafter.
It's his trading and signings of late that has left a lot to be desired.
Perfect example is the BG signing/Afflalo trade.
Dumars Got Afflalo early in the second round. A solid all-round player with great work ethic.
Good draft pick.
Then....
Signs BG for ridiculous amounts of money, and is forced to trade Afflalo for nothing because of the log jam at SG that he created.
Naughty Dumars!!
.....oh how I wish he didn't sign BG. :( He'd look a whole lot better right now and so would the team.

I'm being dead serious about this but i can't thank Joe D enough about the Ben Gorden Trade. I don't have 2k12 yet for my PS but on 2K11 Ben Gorden is a beast. No one can stop him, i average about 35 points playing with this guy. I scored 50 points on my one friend shooting all jumpers. My brother who is a Chi Town fan, used to kick my butt because all i be is detroit. I decided to take Rip out and Put Ben in and this guy doesn't miss. You should hear the ohhh's and ahhh's with the people in the room who got next. People who i'm playing agains just shake thier head in disbelief when jumper after jumper hits the net. I used to get my butt kicked all the time until I learned how to play with Ben. Charlie on the other hand, he still sucks...even in video game life. Hid defence is EXACTALLY the same as real life. He Tries ont he game life too and it still has poor results so i start day as the PF and Monroe as the C. I have Kinght starting as the pg and Prince starting as SF. My wins are racking up with that line up...hahahaha.

Don't forget Afflalo, plucked at the end of the first round, carefully developed, and then gift-wrapped to Denver.
