Tom Gores press conference predictions
Tom Gores will…
- thank Karen Davidson.
- announce Joe Dumars is returning.
- not directly answer any questions about John Kuester.
- use the excuse of not being here to avoid questions about last year’s struggles.
- cause a local columnist to write that he said the right things, but that it’s only a start.
- get asked about Mark Cuban and laugh during his answer.
- make repeated references to growing up in Michigan/as a Pistons fan.
- mention Bill Davidson.
- say he plans to learn before jumping in and making changes.
- leave half his shirt unbuttoned.

it was what i expected for the most part. a few bad questions, a few good ones. mostly stock answers, a few iffy ones, one or two promising ones. it frustrated me a little that his top two stated priorities were the draft and integrating all the facets of the organization. i mean, the draft, sure. but that’s business as usual, since there’s a draft every year. and it’s not for three more weeks, so hopefully the team gets something done personnel-wise before then.
but the guy’s sitting there in the palace of auburn hills in front of championship banners and pistons logos, and he’s talking about integrating the team with the other entertainment properties he bought (whatever that even means). i don’t think there was a soul watching that press conference who gave six shits about what changes are coming in terms of the concert venues. i know that was a big part of the purchase, but nobody on the planet cares about what changes are in store for DTE energy music theater.
so let’s hope some change is in store for the roster and that the draft isn’t the only thing on the basketball side of the agenda.

A lot of what you point out happens to be astonishingly precise and that makes me wonder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this in this light previously. This article truly did switch the light on for me personally as far as this specific topic goes.
