Why not trade our #8 draft pick to Philly and send Rip, Maxiell, and Bynum off in a three team trade. We could find another team willing give off talent to Philly for Rip, Maxiell, or Bynum. This trade would free up cap space and allow us to compete for Marc Gasol or Jeff Green in free agency. Why would you want injury pron Kaman or overrated Al Jefferson??!

What do you think will become of the 29th pick in the 1st round? Nobody knows for sure but the odds are that the pick will be a guy that won’t be able to stay in the league, yet, will have a guaranteed contract and stuck on the payroll for a few years. Haywood, on the other hand, would be our starting center. And Oden?!?!

I would have to disagree with Tarsier and agree with Waulie. The trade scenario suggested by Waulie makes a lot of since for both, us (the Pistons) and the Hawks.
The Hawks may very well be interested in acquiring Kaman, as he would help to balance out their roster and Daye may prove to be serviceable for their needs.
And, we would be getting a bonifide small forward (I actually think that Josh Smith is really a small forward) and Jerebko is a power forward.
Let’s do this deal.

I would have rather that trade happened, yes. But not so we could keep Butler. But who I would really rather have is Oden. If we could get rid of another contract somehow, I’d be happy to let Prince just walk for a shot at signing Greg Oden.

Haywood’s a little pricey, sure. But he’d start for Detroit and pairs well with Monroe. What would you rather have, Caron Butler and Dallas’ 1st round pick?
