No way Utah does that. I'd be shocked if Utah would trade Okur for Gordon straight up.

Alright I'm with you there. I admit when we signed Ben Gordon, I was like "WTF, him AND Hamilton??" Heres another small scenario I thought of involving BG(hopefully this sounds more logical lol):

Utah gets: Ben Gordon(seeing as they have ZERO shooting gaurds on their roster)
Detroit gets: Mehmet Okur and the #12 pick

Thats just something I thought of a while ago. Obviously, we wouldnt get much, but at least to me it makes sense for both teams. What you think of this??

I agree that's a better deal for Cleveland. I guess the question comes down to how much they value the Jamison contract.

Varejao is definitely more trade-able than Hickson since Varejao's contract is guaranteed at roughly $9M/season for three more seasons. Yikes. That's an albatross, especially for a dude that missed 51 games last year. The Pistons could probably get Varejao for pretty much any short-term contract, if they wanted.

Scott, I have no solution for Rip Hamilton. His contract extension was absolutely atrocious; my solution would have been to never give him that deal.

Since the day we double-downed with Ben Gordon at SG, I have been arguing that it's more viable to trade Gordon for something useful than Hamilton. So that would be my proposal. I don't think his value is very high, though, and honestly, I'd take back an expiring contract and a first or second for him.

In short, I'm a realist when it comes to this situation. We have very few trade assets, and we're crazy to trick ourselves into believing we'll actually get something for Rip. Try to move Gordon, wait one more year on Rip, then try to move him when he's expiring. That means this year and next year we suck, but after that, we can truly rebuild around Monroe and whatever else we can land in the lottery.

It's not pretty, but that's what is likely to happen, IMHO.

Cleveland still isn't trading their best big man for the players you proposed, and Wesley Johnson is a mess of a player, sorry :D

It's Johnson, not Matthews. Big difference. I guess I'm just trying to find a better solution than to just give up Rip and #8 for nothing!! Btw, nothing personal, but if you have a better suggestion for a deal that could land us something for Rip and #8(or for that matter, Rip PERIOD) let me know. What would you do?

If the Cavs can't do better than Rip and Charlie V for the TE and Varejao, they're managed by a very incompetent person.

1) They waste their Trade Exception on Rip, which they were willing to do only if we gave up our pick.
2) Charlie V is terrible, one of the worst overall PFs in the league. Any sane GM would prefer Varejao.
3) Wesley Matthews is a decent player, but hardly outstanding.

So, in your scenario, they give up their best big man, waste a trade exception, acquire an average SG, simply for the sake of swapping the #2 and #4, and let's not leave out the millions it would cost to buy out Rip.

Besides, I was going to include Hickson instead(as I did in my first deal) but I was told that, for whatever reason, Hickson is untouchable. And Johnson had a solid first year and CV can still play some. Sorry but I still think the Cavs get a good package(a helluva lot better than the first one I proposed).

Hmmm, aside from Rip(whos contract would be bought out anyway), I'm not really sure why you would call Wesley Johnson and Charlie Villanueva "mess of players". just sayin lol.

There is no way Cleveland is trading Varejao for that mess of players. And there's also no way they can't get something better out of Jamison's contract.
