He had to try to score more than usual… He lead his team to almost 2 straight national champion ship games. Also his jumper was better than most college PGs. He was also one of the fastest PGs in college

Kalin is a great pg… The only reason he proably missed some open teammates is because his team wasn’t as good as they should have been. Plus Lucas suffered one of the worst injuries of any sport and still averaged 17

BTW, I know it sound contradictory. But in a nutshell, Kalin wants to be Allen Iverson, but he is much much better in an Eric Snow type role. Take care of the ball, give it up early and look for shots off the offense.

Im a huge MSU fan. K. Lucas is one of the worst passing guards, PG or SG, to ever wear a Spartan uniform. Now I know thats saying something, and I mean it.

I also think he’s inward, a terrible leader, and his teammates essentially got out of his way, (he made his team worse)
Kalin was great as an underclassmen playing off the ball, he was a clutch scorer and great asset. But he is in no way a shoot first PG. He is a small SG. He has no sense of basketball past me/ball/hoop. Any sense he appeared to have was 100% Izzo’s structured offense. It bared itself numerous times, noone misses wide open teammates every single time, Kalin does.
I actually respect Kalin’s scoring ability and shooting very much. And maybe he does have a shot in the NBA if he is paired with a ball dominant SG who will set him up. When he accepts a lesser role, and is a follower, and is a finisher of the play, he’s actually quite good on a team. He should never ever initiate an offense.

I disagree with Patrick. I do not think Lucas makes it as an NBA guard. I expect him to be a D-league player or to go overseas.

That's a bit harsh. Lucas was their second best player all year. He can hardly be blamed for the fact that Summers was terrible, Appling and Payne were not as good as expected and they got zero contribuions from the two-headed center of Nix/Sherman.

Kalin has some definite flaws as a player, but I still think he can be a NBA guard.

After watching Lucas fail to lead his team out of the first round of the tourney, I’m going to have to hop on the bandwagon (whatever it’s called) that wants us to avoid Lucas at all costs.
