Is Mike Ilitch back in as a potential Pistons owner?
Tom Gores’ exclusive negotiating window to buy the Pistons quietly ended last week with no reports of a finalized agreement.
Today, WXYZ in Detroit reports Mike Ilitch, who had an exclusive negotiating window in November and couldn’t reach an agreement, could still be interested in buying the team:
Wednesday morning, Tom Wilson said the Ilitch family is still interested in purchasing the Detroit Pistons and Palace Entertainment.
Wilson says the Ilitches are still in a legal non-disclosure period in their effort to complete a deal.
Although nothing much has been reported about Gores of late, I have to think that the silence is not a good thing for his chances, and I also have to think Ilitch’s vision for a downtown hockey/basketball arena has not waned.
