Bones:

Thanks for the comments. I really loved that Spurs team Rodman was on too. And good luck with the Facebook campaign. I linked to it too after I saw it on Ball Don't Lie. Hopefully it keeps gaining momentum. There are certainly a lot more people talking about Rodman this year than last year when his name was first on the ballot.

Hey Patrick,

We're probably of the same age range and my first exposure to the NBA was around the time of the Bad Boys. I'm from the Philippines so the state in which the teams belong didn't really play that much of a part in picking one's team. (well, technically our home was on Detroit St., so it might have played a part). I loved the idea of a team essentially winning on defense. A team who can "blow out" their opponent by 5 points. I knew who Dennis was, but I loved how the team worked. I really got into Dennis when he was in the Spurs, I honestly think that apart from Robinson he was the only consistent player during the play-offs. And, when Hakeem was schooling Robinson during the West Finals in 1995, I believe that it was only Dennis that fought with all he had (at least during the game). I like Jordan, but I started being his fan when Dennis joined the Bulls. 3 players from the same team who got into the all defensive first team in the same year. I'm a defense-oriented basketball fan so I am huge fan of the second-threepeat bulls.

I actually started a facebook campaign to raise awareness on Dennis' plight for a HOF spot. I was lucky enough that it was picked-up by Yahoo BDL and Usatoday, aside from other foreign sites. The fun part was it has led to fb conversations with Dennis expressing how grateful he was for what we are doing in his behalf. Also, it was kinda interesting to find out that Dennis have a great number of French fans.
I am so happy that the pistons have finally given him the honor that he so greatly deserves. I hope I can do more to help him out. but commenting on blogs and trying to solicit comments from other players were all i can think of. Hopefully our childhood hero gets into the hall and i'm sure we'll be the first ones rooting when that finally happens.

He was a gun, and I guess by my phrase he must go off. When he was hired for the lakers it was noone else woulf touch him, no matter the shape he was in... He was retired and Phil said give me 6 months. Having said that, love the man, what he could do, but after the Krause implosion, he was done... and if you just blame him, take a look at pippens post trade numbers.

Bravo. Rodman is the best pure rebounder and on ball defender I've ever seen play the game. I sincerely hope that his being among the best ever at a couple parts of the game, as well as the rings, will get him to his deserved place in the hall.

Kevin Love looks like he could come close to the way Rodman hit the glass. Love is obviously a better scorer but Rodman is the better defender by a mile. I suppose for the young guys that never got to see Rodman play then you just have to imagine the way Love hits the glass but for the best part of 10-12 years in row…consistently! What made him so great was that he didn't have to score a point to effect a game. I still laugh when Rodman got Frank Brickowski tossed in the 96 finals when Brickowski's assignment was to clearly get under Rodman's skin. I don't think George Karl ever got over it.
