Tim, Wilcox replaced Villanueva, who's healthy. Monroe, who started at power forward next to Wallace earlier in the season, replaced Wallace.

Jeremy, I'm not willing to assume Jerebko would have started at power forward all season if healthy. There are too many other players with a similar ability level. Even if you're convinced Jerebko would without a doubt be the team's best power forward when healthy, if you consider Kuester's willingness to bring a better player off the bench, Jerebko might have moved to the bench as Kuester changed other parts of the lineup.

yeah this isn't exactly a cause-and-effect thing here either. i mean, the problem is the terrible roster. too many guys who are equally average, too much talent at some positions, not enough at others. the starts/DNP-CD is a result of that, so is the fact that nobody's done enough to warrant a starting spot. it's all just side effects of a terrible roster.

Wilcox only started because Wallace was injured. And it is likely that at least one fewer of those players would have started if Jerebko had been healthy all season.

In a way analysis indicates you are like the company you keep and sometimes the company you keep is not what you would like to keep. Having said that Wallace and Stuckey are special cases, albeit not injury. Both times, its only been one game so there is that as well. Personally, I don't think either Hamilton or Maxiel should have gotten starts, but I can excuse the coaching staff for trying to see what they had in these players given their contract situations and past performances. Also hindsight being 20/20 and all.

I think I would take Jerebko from last season as the starting PF over anyone who has manned that position this year. Considering he had such a positive off-season experience with his national team and how much everyone else has sucked it up, it seems pretty reasonable to expect that he would have been the clear-cut best option this year.

For that matter, if Wilcox ends up being the best option of everyone else, he's another player that got derailed by injury until recently.

@ Jeremy - While i'm sure Jerebko had a very good chance at being the starting PF, it was never determined that it would be the case. Many thought Villanueva, just being he was making leaps and bounds more money then both Daye and Jerebko - would get the nod. Being Daye ended up getting the shot, and that there have been SO MANY faces shirting around at the spot this season, i think it's safe to say that it was anyone's spot to be had.

But your point is correct, and while i'm not a big Kuester fan, i don't think a stat like this can be put on his back either. He has worked with the roster handed to him, which was destined for failure from day one. With such an imbalance of back to front court players - this many roster adjustments is inevitable.
