I don't see a trade on the horizon, so I don't see the Pistons making the playoffs. Monroe doesn't seem like he's going to make much of an immediate impact. He's not going to get thrown to the wolves. He'll get maybe 20 minutes a game or so to show what he can do, hopefully anyway. He sure does like leading that fast break doesn't he? He could tear it up for the Warriors or Knicks. I get that summer league isn't exactly the best forum to judge big men though. Everyone is just out there chucking and trying to make an impression. I still don't see Daye playing a minute if everyone remains healthy. It would take an 11-12 man rotation for Daye to see minutes. Cousins is going to be damn good.

I think the team will be improved significantly. Despite his rough game, Daye should take a step forward and become a reliable rotation player. Ben Gordon should be better. And better health will take this team from the 20sish win bunch to maybe mid 30s.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to be enough in the East. Obviously Miami is better now. Chicago is better. The Knicks and Nets are better. The Bucks are better. Boston and Orlando are still very good. The Hawks made a terrible signing, but on the other hand, they bring back every playoff contributor. Even the Raptors might contend for a playoff spot. They lost Bosh, but just brought in three solid, starting-caliber players. And Cleveland's not a title contender anymore, but if their guys are healthy, they should still be a fringe playoff team. That's 11 teams that wouldn't be complete shocks to make the playoffs. The Pistons will definitely be in the mix with that 8-11ish group, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable about their chances if they found a competent big man to add to the rotation, either with the mid-level or through a trade.

Sacramento had exactly the draft that I wanted and the Pistons needed. Cousins will be the best player from this draft if he stays healthy and motivated.
Patrick, what's your (premature) projection for this season? Somehow squeaking into the 8th seed or lottery bound again? (Assuming no major roster changes, that is)

I understand that. But he played well against GS, and he was hurt in that game too. His struggles looked to be more about comfort than injury. Casspi did a really good job forcing him into spots on the floor where he wasn't comfortable operating.
