Patrick, I think that's the point. The Pistons had minimal to no competition for Ben Gordon. Maybe the Bulls or Thunder had interest, but I don't think they would've come that close to what Detroit offered.

Gordon certainly would've gotten more this summer (coming off a season like he had two years ago) that he did last summer, because there would have been more teams bidding.

Joe Dumars was in an advantageous position last summer, having cap room few other teams did, and he didn't take advantage of it.

Nuetes, I think he would have gotten more money than Felton -- not a ton, but more. (Although, that's largely based on having more upside than Felton, not production so far.)

"We already did that (twice last summer) and lost."
I don't know. I'm curious what Gordon would've been paid had he been a FA this season instead of last. I mean, Joe Johnson got $20 million, and he's not significantly better than Gordon. If Gordon even just gets back to where he was in Chicago, his deal (and Rip's, for that matter) doesn't look as bad as some other SGs around the league.

I agree with brgulker. no sense in giving stuckey a contract now and essentially bidding against ourselves, when it might in fact be only the pistons that think stuckey has any value in the first place. If he was a free agent this summer its unlikely he would be any more coveted than felton, and maybe even less so.

At first glance, this seems like a lack of faith in Rodney Stuckey on the Pistons’ part. But maybe it’s just a shrewd business move.
I'm thrilled either way. Stuckey's not the answer at PG or SG. No sense getting in a bidding war with ourselves for a middling player on the eve of a new CBA.
