Detroit Pistons can offer free agents up to $33,437,000 with MLE
The NBA released its salary-cap figures for the 2010-11 season:
- Mid-level exception: $5,765,000
- Salary cap: $58,044,000
- Luxury tax: $70,307,000
The mid-level exception came out $33,000 less than I projected a month ago. That means Detroit can offer a free agent up to $33,437,000 for a five-year contract.
A luxury tax that high should give Detroit plenty of room to use the full MLE and re-sign Will Bynum and Ben Wallace.
The salary cap is pretty irrelevant for the Pistons, because they will still be above it.

I am praying that will be enough to sign Brendan Haywood. Even though other teams can offer the same, he likely will get more playing time here than anywhere else.

Apparently, the Pistons were only about $22 million short.

Well what big do you think can or will come with Hayward resigning with Mavaricks. I had my eye on 2 but can they cut the mustard and show up big? My 2 are Aaron Gray and Kyrylo Fesenko. Fesenko to me had a good play off sereies as he got inserted out of necessity because of Okur going down. would possibly be a good compliment to the bench and man that paint

It is a good fit to get Shaquille O`Neal for the right price, even if he signs a 1 or 2 year deal to help with Greg Monroe. With O`Neal being older there would be alot of playing time for O`Neal, Wallace, and Monroe. O`Neal could help teach Monroe with Wallace. Think of the marketing O`Neal could bring to the box office. With this young and healthy team the Piston could be a playoff team and fun to watch.
Think Think Think about this??????????????????????????

Mark, not sure how much O’Neal would actually help (at least, more than he would hurt), but if he hasn’t signed by tomorrow, you can expect to see a post exploring the possibility.
