I like a sign and trade for Shaq on a one year deal, Hickson and a 2nd round pick in exchange for Maxiell, Wilcox and Dajuan Summers. This would free up enough cap space next year to sign a real center when there are quite a few available.

Travis, yeah, I don’t think a Shaq signing makes perfect sense, but I think it’s fairly reasonable. Patrick hates Shaq, though, because he used to like those Jail Blazer Portland teams. So, keep in mind that his current Shaq-bashing is influenced by other deep-seeded opinions.

The Rake, I don’t think $3.5 million would cut it. I think that’s close enough to the type of deal he could get from a contender. The full MLE is a nice-sized raise that makes a clear difference. But if the Pistons felt $3.5 million was the most Shaq was worth, I wouldn’t have a problem with them offering just that. Obviously, there’s no need to get Shaq at all costs.
