Why would all the other teams ahead of No. 5 pass on Cousins? Nobody denies his potential. But a ton of questions remain about his attitude and weight. Those concerns could convince the Kings that Cousins isn’t worth the trouble.
And I don’t see the Pistons including Prince in the deal.

Honestly, I don’t think this gets done. Why do the Kings pass on a potential franchise big man, the thing we need most, to dump Nocioni and take Prince? It makes no sense unless Geoff Petrie is sold on someone else that can be had lower, like Hassan Whiteside. Even still, I don’t see it happening

I’m with you, James. The only better way to get someone with as high a chance of being a franchise center is getting a higher pick next year (or another year). Obviously, that plan isn’t ideal.

BrGulker, I think the most likely way this trade would be made is once the fifth pick comes up. That way, the Pistons would know who they’re getting.

I’m completely on board. This seems like the type of trade we’d agree to in principle before the draft contigent on Cousins being there at pick 5.

Cousins is definitely a risk, but he also has the potential to be a dominant big man offensively and defensively in the league. His per minute stats are off the charts and too good to ignore. This is basically the only way we can get a young, potentially dominant big man. We won’t have cap space for years and trading just Prince or Hamilton won’t get us some one with the talent level of Cousins. I would much rather have Cousins then some one like Aminu/Ed Davis at pick 7 plus whatever Prince would get us at the trade deadline.

I’m more than on board if it guarantees Cousins. But nothing’s a guarantee on draft day…
