You're right. Every other team is looking for a star. But isn't that even more reason to go the other route?

Why compete with 29 other teams for whatever star might be available when you can be the only team eying the very good players of the league.

The detroit is not that bad they just need one off season they have 3 draft picks and a little room in FA . Joe d should trade Rip to get some salary space and draft Big and sign a younger player even if he has to develope ,Only reason its was so hard to trade was b cuz of the 2010 Free Agency but alot of teams r one a decline the Lakers Boston Phoenix.teams stock that r up who has next up detroit chicago okc new york and i think 2 other teams t wolves and the clippers

The plan is to get a player better than any player they have now. If they don't they won't be successful. Patrick Hayes hit it. They aren't going to win until they get a star - and that's most likely to happen through the draft. And it could take as long as 10 years, it could take as long as it takes. Look around the NBA all the teams lucked into their stars, and teams with stars win. People need to quit waiting for the next 2004 Pistons (starless champion) or the next Billups (Stuckey). Rare events are rare for a reason - they don't happen often - so quit waiting for lightning to strike twice and lets get realistic here.
