Stoudemire is just what the Pistons don't need-another PF. If the only goal is the playoffs and a first round exit, then fine. But if you want to win championships, a real defensive minded shotblocking, and rebounding center is needed. Not Stoudemire, Boozer, or Gortat. In the East, you have to matchup with Howard, Perkins, and a much improving Lopez. Out West, the Lakers, Memphis, Utah, and San Antonio all have impressive front line players. I don't know what Joe's plan is, lottery to get Cousins or what, but Charlie V. is almost untradeable, so your stuck with him. Joe needs to go and get someone that knows how to build a team. I'll do it for 25% of what he makes.

Isn't Stoudemire becoming the NBA's version of Randy Moss? Great talent and skill, but doesn't really play to win and slacks off when he's not interested. It also seems like he's shown some character issues, one of the things that Joe Dumars said he wasn't going to do again after the Iverson fiasco. I'm a firm believer that Charlie V is the classic "good stats on a bad team" player, but Stoudemire makes me think the Pistons would get more regular season wins but fizzle in the playoffs when grit counts. I hate where the Pistons are at right now, but the last thing they need is a trade like this that just turns them into the Utah Jazz of the 90s- great regular seasons, bad draft picks, no championship to show for it.
